New Years Picks

The coach picked up right where he left off with a perfect 3-3 last week.  I quote Coach Parcells when he explained "that you are what your record is".  As of right now heading into the final week of the regular season, the record is 21-12.  My hope is that during this holiday season people made some cash off of my "Lock of the Year" pick-GO JETS!!!!. To week 17-

 

I will start with taking the Bills getting 9 points against the Ravens.  I will admit that this pick has to do more with the heart than with the head.  As a loyal gang green follower, I will travel to the first round of the playoffs. I would much rather go to Baltimore than go and see the Colts.  Take the Bills getting 9 points and warn Durkin that we will be there next weekend.

 

Strange line of the week is the Bucs being favored by 3 against the Seahawks.  I am not a fan of the Seahawks, but take the Hawks and the 3 points.

 

Lock of the WeeK:

The Chargers are one of the best teams in the NFL but they have everything locked up and they will rest many of their starters in the second half.  Arizona is awful but they will rally late to only lose by 12 points.  Take Arizona and the 13 1/2 points.

Coach's Holiday Picks

To all my fans I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, the little coach is sitting on my lap and he has his Jet uniform on-To the picks.

Pro: The record stands at 18-12, so I need to get back on track with an easy pick.  The Bears are only giving 4.5 to the Lions.  I have lost to the Bears all year but this time the Bears will get me back on track.  Take the Bears and give the horrible Lions the points.

My next two picks are on X-mas day, what a concept- football and x-mas on the same day. I have been taught that the good lord hates the Cowboys, so I have to take the Eagles in this game.  The Eagles are getting 7 points, the only thing stranger than that spread was Martys X-mas card with his dog on it.  The last card that I got from Marty had two pigs on it and I still have not fully recovered from that one.  Go Eagles and Troy!

LOCK OF THE YEAR!!!!!

Please understand that this pick is not for the faint of heart, those that choose to follow have to remember that as a cursed Jet fan, I must lay all my cards on the table with my Lock Pick of the Year.  The Jets need to win to remain in the playoff hunt and they will be in the hated city of Miami, to take on the Fish.  The Jets are 2.5 point dogs but they will be money on this pick.  Take the Jets with the points. Jesus has season tickets to the Jets and he sits in Section 327.  There is no way that he will let them lose on his birthday.

Coach missed a week but is back with a Vengance!!

Picks:

Sorry to all my fans, but I needed a week to recharge the batteries and end the regulars season on a high note, much like NY Jets, who in case you haven't noticed are headed for the playoffs.  Don't worry Giant fans we will take care of the big bad Bears for you.

College:

West Virginia is at Pittsburgh in a rivalry game called the "Backyard Brawl".  The Mountaineers are giving 11 points to the Panthers. Give the points and take West Virginia as they get ready for their game against Rutgers next week.  Note-This game is on Thursday night.

Pro:

Take the Jets, they are getting 7 points from the Bears and unlike the Giants they don't fall asleep on Field Goals.  JET NATION RISE UP!!!

Lock of the week:

Bet the house on this, it is a can't miss. The Colts are headed to Dallas and they are favored by only 1 point.  Take the Colts and give the point to the Cowboys.

Coach goes after Davies to try and get attention away from his awful 2 week run

Now that my own football season is over, I hope to spend more energy towards
making the daily readers of Dave and Danielle's blog some big money.  I want to
take time to thank the person that sent a comment to the Coach's picks, I always
enjoy reading fan mail.  Unfortunately the past two weeks have not been kind for
the Coach; I believe that some of Gallagher has rubbed off on me.  I will
attempt to "DeMush" myself this weekend.
College:
The Sec has been one of the best conferences that I have seen in a long time;
they just kick the crap out of each other.  Every game seems to be a grudge fest
and this week I will start the weekend out right with the Razorbacks from
Arkansas.  They travel to South Carolina where they will play the Gamecocks.
(Marty's favorite team) Arkansas is giving 2 points-Take them and give the
points to South Carolina.

Pro:
The Falcons are giving 5 points to the Lions, the Lions are awful and the game
will be played in a dome. Take the Falcons and give the points

Lock of the Week:
Air Force is at Army on Friday Night-Great game and although I would normally
root for Army. Take Air Force in this game and give the 6 ½ points to Army.

My new installment for this week is titled inside the head of a "Red Dragon".
For those of you that are not aware, Brian Davies spent two years at the revered
learning institute known as Suny Cortland.  Due to this, he only follows
Division 3 football and he is a regular in the "Red Dragon" chat rooms, where he
goes by the name John Scots lobster house. For the reminder of the Cortland
football schedule, I will add my new "Red Dragon" pick of the week. This one is
for Davies-
Cortland is 8-0 and they travel to Division 3 power Rowan and they are favored
by 2 points.  Take the Dragons and give the 2 points- Chocolate jimmy's out!

Coach Kelly Lays an Egg

Tough week but I have figured out the problem.  It turns out that Barbuto went along w/ my picks from Vegas while he was at Tony's bachelor party.  Anyone who knows the history of relations regarding Jeff and I at Bachelor parties should know that my lock of the week was doomed when he put $ on the Cardinals.  But I am back and I am ready to improve on my 13-7 record.

To the picks: College: I hate the Hurricanes and I am going with Georgia Tech to knock Miami out of any good bowl game.  Take Tech and give the 5 points to Miami.

Pro: Can the Bears really beat the 49ners by more than 16 ½ points? I hope not.  I will take the 49ners and  the points.

Lock Of the week: I guarantee victory, bet the paycheck on this one, unless you are Gallagher or Bugsy then stay far away.  Two of the Chargers defensive players are out and they are still giving 9 ½ points to the Rams.  I think that it will be a close game. Take the Rams and the points.

Week 7

After going 3 for 3 last week the Coach is now a Steller 13-5 for the season.
The lock of the week was perfect as the Jest nearly blew a 17 point lead in the
4th quarter to the awful dolphins.  Unfortunately for all Marty did not take a
tumble down the steps, however he was able to make $35 bucks in the bathroom.
Before I make my picks this week, I have to tell my loyal fans that I was called
out by Brain Gallagher other wise known as the "Mush".  He wants to step into
the ring and go head to head.  I realize that it was probably only the warm Bud
LTS talking but I want to assure all that the domination will continue.  To the
picks:

College:
I like the Irish against U.C.L.A in South Bend.  The Bruins lost their QB two
weeks ago and they will get their butts kicked this weekend as the Irish gear up
to move down in the standings.  The Irish are giving the Bruins 13 ½ points but
the Irish will win by 3 TDs in this game.  Take the Irish give the points!

Pro:
I feel bad for my friend Bengal, but they are on a downward slide and I do not
see it getting any better this weekend when they play Carolina.  The Panthers
are a tough physical team, that are now hitting their stride.  The Panthers are
getting 3 points and I think that they will actually win the game. Take the
Panthers and the 3 pts.

Lock of the Week:
The Lock takes us to Oakland where the awful Raiders pretend to play football.
They play a Cardinal team that should of pulled off an impressive upset victory
last week against the Bears.  They will be focused and they will kill the
Raiders.  The Cardinals are favored by 3 points but it will not matter, b/c
Leinhart will light up the Raiders-NICE JOB JETS!!-
Take the Cardinals and give the points

Week 6

After posting two wins last week, my record improves to 10-5 for the football
year, with a 4-1 record on locks of the week.  I will provide my address at the
conclusion of the year so many of you can send me a nice "thank you" in the form F
of a check made out to cash. Please keep in mind that my lovely wife is
expecting our first child next month and the Coach always accepts gifts.  To the
games!

College:
The end of November will present on of the best college football games in recent
memory, when both the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines
play one another in their annual grudge match.  This year the intensity will be
even higher because the winner will play in the BCS game for the National
Championship.  Before that, the Buckeyes will destroy the Michigan State
Spartans this weekend in East Lansing. The Spartans are getting 14 points but
the Buckeyes will have their second string in by the second half-Take the
Buckeyes and give the points.

Pro:
This is an upset special, I feel confident that the Seahawks who are still w/o
Shaun Alexander will get beaten this weekend by the St. Louis Rams.  The game is
at St. Louis and I feel an upset.  Take the Rams and the 3 points.

Lock of the Week:
I will have the pleasure of sharing my season tickets with Dave this weekend
when the hated Fins play the Jets at the Meadowlands.  There is nothing like
sitting in between Dave and Marty for 4 quarters of football.  Lets all hope
that Marty once again takes a trip down the steps in the elevated seats of
section 326.
J-E-T-S!!!
The Jets are favored by 2 ½ points, take the Jets and give the points to the
Dolphins.
Also, my real lock of the week is that upon hearing that they have found lurid
emails from Marty to Mark Foley that Marty takes a nose dive from 326.  Probably
between the 3rd and 4th quarter.

Coach has toughest week yet

I am upset with myself regarding my awful pick of the Seahawks against the Bears, I blew that pick and I must point the finger at myself.  I promise that will never happen again, so to make amends and to improve on my overall record of 8-4. College: Lets go the Red River Shootout which puts Texas against Oklahoma.  The game is held in Dallas and the Longhorns are giving the Sooners 4 points, but the Sooners do not have enough offense to stay with Texas.  Take the Longhorns and give the points- Pro: The Bills are at the Bears and I am going against the Bears once again.  The Bills are getting 10 points and although they will not win the game, they will keep it close.  Take the Bills and the 10 points. Lock of the week: Back to basics, the Giants will beat the skins by more than 4 points, take the Giants giving the 4 to the Skins.

Coach Kelly 7 for 9!!!

If you're not paying attention to Coach Kelly's picks you're missing out on some big money. Last week Coach was again 3 for 3!!! Truly incredible.

As we roll onto week 4 I express gratitude to all those Coach Kelly fans that
are across the metro area.  I was one again 3 for 3 last week, and again my lock
of the week involved a spirted comeback and it turned into an instant classic.
To those that would like to make instant cash here we go:

College:
I will stay away from the Irish for a week, I need something different and it
will be the hated U.S.C. Trojans from L.A.  They are playing at Wash St and they
are giving state 17 points, but if you are an avid reader of the Coaches picks
then you know that it will not matter, as the Trojans win by at least 3 TD's.
Take the Trojans give the points.

Pro:

Need I saw more to my fellow Green Warriors, we make a statement again the colts
this Sunday. Perhaps the statement may be that we will not lose by more than 9
point, but it is still a statement.  The real bet is what quarter do I black
out? Last game it was the 3rd quarter.  Stay tuned for details and take the Jets
and the 9 points.

Lock of the week:
I feel as if I can predict the future w/ my lock of the week picks.  I am 3 for
3 and I only hope that someone has made some large cash off of my ability. My
lock of the week takes us to Chicago where the Bears play the Seahawks which
should be the game of the week.  The Bears are favored but the Hawks are the
better team, just ask Giant fans.  The Hawks are getting 3 points and that is a
mistake-Take the Seahawks and the 3 points.

Week 3

After going 1 for 3 last week, I expect to once again be perfect.  I knew not to bet the damn convicts from Miami, I should have stuck to my tried and true method of picking games.  WeeK Three College: I think that Tennessee is back this year and even if they are giving 22 points to Marshall.  The game is at Tennessee so give the points and take the Volunteers. Pro: Why aren't the Bengals getting more love from the odds makers. I will once again go with my man Bengal and take his favorite team.  The Bengals are getting 2 points but it will not matter they will beat the Steelers in Pittsburg by a touchdown, its a guarantee.  Bengal rules!! Lock of the week: I was money once again on my lock of the week, the G-men mounted quite the comeback against the Eagles, I saw it coming the whole time.  For this week, I will have to once again pick the Irish as they go to Mich State and try to rebound from an ass kicking that Michigan gave them last weekend.  The Irish have not won in quite some time at East Lansing but they will win by double digits this time.  They are giving 2 1/2 to the Spartans, but once again it doesn't matter-Take the Irish-
